We can't wait to share with you her favorite scents of the moment and her advice for those just starting out with fragrance layering. So, stay tuned as we reveal the "layers" of Casey's creator and fragrance journey!
What sparked your passion for fragrances and led you to explore fragrance layering?
C: I fell in love with fragrance after a couple of TJ Maxx runs with my mom. I kept gravitating towards the body care section, smelling various soaps and scrubs. To be accurate, I fell in love with the Philosophy shower gels, and began purchasing lotions and body care that matched. From there, I started going to Sephora and smelling the fragrances. My first perfume was Kayali’s Vanilla | 28, and since then, I continued to purchase perfumes and began sharing my opinions. Today, I have over 60 perfumes and a plethora of body mists, oils, and lotions!
Can you walk us through your journey as a creator, including how you started sharing about fragrance layering on TikTok and your goals as an influencer?
C: I started my journey late 2022, and began sharing body care finds, routines, and tips. When I started posting, I wasn’t expecting to have gained a following or to have people wanting more content and recommendations. As I continued to expand my collection, I continued to share layering combos, what the fragrances smelled like, and other hygiene content. My goals as an influencer is to continue to do what I’m doing now, talk about fragrance, hygiene and how to smell as good as possible. I love fragrance, so to be able to expand my collection and give opinions is such a blessing! I want my page to be a fun space to chat, ask questions, and learn more about perfumes.
What are your top tips for effective fragrance layering, especially for beginners?
C: My biggest tip for effective fragrance layering is understanding that it isn’t just the perfumes you spray. It really starts in the shower for me, cleansing and prepping my skin for the scent of the day. Layering body care products, like body oil & lotion, that are going to compliment my scent allows for me to build up the layers of my fragrance and keep my skin moisturized & soft . Body mists are also a great way to build up your scent! (Bonus points if the scents match or compliment each other!) Fragrance and perfume oils are another great way to help your scent last throughout the day. It really is about layering your products!
Do you have any favorite fragrance combinations or a 'signature scent' through layering that you'd recommend?
C: I’m a vanilla lover, so my favorite layering combos smell so delicious! My favorite perfumes to wear together would be by/rosiejane’s Dulce along with Kayali’s Vanilla | 28 or Giardini Di Toscana’s Bianco Latte. The aforementioned fragrances are all deliciously sweet vanilla fragrances, I highly recommend all of them! M y all time favorite body oil company is prtygrl beauty! They’re an amazing, affordable, cruelty & toxin free all natural body care company. M y favorite scents are their V anill a Bean Dream, Sweet Cream, and Angel Cake. I also really love to wear Phlur’s Vanilla Skin Body mist or being Frenshe’s Cashmere Vanilla fragrance mist.
What's a common misconception about fragrance layering that you'd like to address?
C: A very common misconception is that there’s no point to layering your fragrances. Some people deem it unnecessary, but I truly love layering. Mixing and layering fragrance is another step to personalize your scent experience; tailoring it to fit what you want. You can mix and match your fragrances to really customize what you want to smell like; more sweet, smoky, fresh and clean, floral, literally anything. In my opinion, layering is a great way to get the most out of your fragrances, as well as exploring scent possibilities!
Looking ahead, where do you see the fragrance layering trend heading, and are there any industry changes or innovations you'd like to see?
C: I would honestly love to see more gourmands and vanilla fragrances! Vanilla is one of the best notes in fragrance, so I would love to see more fragrances that have a creamy vanilla profile. In my opinion, this is going to be a good year for fruit perfumes, especially strawberry, mango, and hopefully apple. In terms of the industry, I would love to see more brands beginning or continuing to establish and maintain positive relationships with the fragrance community. In this day & age, social media has so much impact, especially when it comes to new releases, products, and opinions. Incorporating influencers will always be an amazing thing across the board! Fragrance is becoming just as popular as makeup & fashion, so its only right that there are strides taken to make sure inclusivity of people, all shapes, sizes, colors, and cultures are represented.
Could you share a personal experience that captures your passion for
fragrances?
C: My passion for fragrance definitely relates to my passion to take care of the people around me. I love recommending fragrances, hygiene products, body care, and self care tips to my friend and family. Being the “smell good” is so much fun, I really enjoy being able to help my friends find their scents and to see them fall in love with fragrance. I’ve been a go to person to help my younger families, for when they have questions or want to improve their hygiene or fragrance collection. One of my younger cousins actually called me once, mid shower, to tell me that the products & routine I recommended helped them so much. That pretty much sums up my passion; while the collaborations and PR I’ve gotten have been such amazing blessings, becoming a person that people consider helpful and dependable is really what makes this journey amazing.
Is there a fragrance-related mantra or wisdom that guides your journey and that you'd like to share with your followers?
C: My nugget of wisdom when it comes to fragrance is very subjective, so wear what you like! There are about a million reasons as to why you might hate or love a fragrance, so find what you enjoy and rock it! Fragrance TikTok can be overwhelming with choices, but you don’t HAVE to buy something just because it’s viral. In the same token, don’t avoid buying a fragrance because you don’t see influencers talking about it; it might just be a hidden gem! Fragrance is honestly so much fun, it’s something I think everyone should be enjoying. Also, don’t feel pressured to spent hundreds or dollars on one single fragrance! There are amazing & affordable perfumes out there; my personal affordable fragrances are Casablanca by Swiss Arabian, Reb’l Fleur by Rihanna, Creme Brûlée by Le Monde Gourmand, andVanilla Bourbon by MIX:BAR Beauty!
Finally, is there anything else you'd like to add?
C: I would love to thank you for reaching out & doing this interview! I’ve never done an interview, so hopefully I did your blog justice. Fragrance is so much fun, I hope everyone gets the opportunity to experience it for themselves! Please enjoy the process of finding perfumes, trying out what you like or don’t. Fragrance is literally for EVERYONE, so spray on! Of course, follow me on TikTok if you’re looking for recommendations!
